a nice cup of tea and a sit down

My apparent femininity appears to be a somewhat female construct as the majority of men i have discussed it with have all said the same thing happens to them i.e. they get called a bit girly. Therefore, it merely shows that women should change their frankly rubbish perception of men. Right i'm off to buy something pink, do dome interior design, cook some angel cake and other such manly things, bye

  • You're probably right, as all gender stuff is a social construct. But I think it's a girly way of trying to say that you're easy to get on with and not threatening, which is meant as a compliment.

Girls aren't very good at affirming friendships with guys in a bloke way, ie, slap on the back/good pint of beer/not saying emotional stuff. We have to use words rather than non-verbal signifiers, and we tend to say things in a way that makes sense to us.

Maybe we'll have to learn more how to affirm you in your masculinity, because it's more that you're a great bloke with all the good parts of being a chap, rather than you're great because you're not like a bloke but are a bit girly (which isn't true, and i don't think something we would say of you).

Hmm, methinks this could be the start of an interesting conversation. Hugh, you're great! In a non-girly way!
